[ID: A collage style art piece. The collage has a blue background, with red foam alphabet stickers that spell out the words, “riots not diets” in all caps. The words are centered at the top of the page. On either side of the text there are sparkly gold heart shaped stickers. Underneath the text, there is a cutout of a photograph of a black cat. The cat is looking forward, sitting, has its mouth open, and is licking the side of its face. Near the cat there are two cutouts of pictures of food. One is a chocolate cake decorated with icing and raspberries. The cake has a slice cut out of it. The other cutout photo is a slice of cherry pie with a lattice design on top. The photographs of food appear vintage, like they are from an old recipe book. End ID.]
Mr Gaiman, I'm trying to put some words together to say at my mother's funeral. We were both such huge fans of Terry Pratchett and yourself. I want to finish with a quote from Good Omens - DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING, said Death. JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH
Mum would appreciate the dark humour of this but I'm not sure the rest of my family would. Should I include it anyway?
Well, we had it on everyone’s seat at Terry’s funeral service. It made me particularly happy, because it was my line in our book. Beyond that, I don’t know your family and what would work for them, but if it would have made your mother happy, then I’d say go for it.
“Listen to me, your body is not a temple. Temples can be destroyed and desecrated. Your body is a forest — thick canopies of maple trees and sweet scented wildflowers sprouting in the underwood. You will grow back, over and over, no matter how badly you are devastated.”
my favorite thing about the moomins is that their domestic cottagecore aesthetic is basically just a cover for the fact that they’re actually like 2 degrees of separation from going full feral at any one time and literally everyone knows it
They… they are getting looked at. That’s what an audit is. If nobody was looking they wouldn’t get audited??
and what was the consequence of failing the audit for a fifth time, Dave? The DoD can’t account for 61% of it’s $3.5 trillion in assets. Are they really looking?
